Last January I received a call from an organization called the Global Forum for Education and Learning, GFEL. They called to notify me that I had been nominated as a visionary in education. They explained that there was an application process that I had to complete. I decided to complete the application. In February, I received this from the GFEL Concierge team, Heartiest congratulations from the concierge team at GFEL on winning the prestigious award for your unparalleled contributions to the field of education! The objective for GFEL is to provide a platform for networking and learning amongst a closed group of award-winning peers from the industry. Shortly after accepting the award, I received another email, “As we get ready to welcome you all to our upcoming conference, GFEL USA 2020-21, we wish to formally extend an invitation for you to serve as a keynote speaker at the event.” I was surprised, yet honored.
I submitted my topic, Unified Communication – Safe Schools. I produced the content including a paper, presentation, and a 5-minute video, and sent it to the keynote speaker acceptance department. About a week later I received a call confirming that I will be able show the content in its entirety. I agreed. Now we wait. The forum was scheduled for June 23 – 25.
The day came and we arrived at the conference in Las Vegas. The event was held at the MGM. As it was explained, it was a “closed” group, with about 650 attendees from all over the world. It was interesting to see that no matter where you are from, the same issues apply. The talent and education of the attendees were impressive. It was a tight-knit group with a common goal, to improve education. There were 12 keynote speakers in our group of around 325 educators. We all listened to each other, then we were able to network, have conversations, and understand the other’s point of view. It was a wonderful experience.
I spoke about safe schools to about 250 attendees in our group. This message is one that resonates and is an utmost priority for all in attendance. We had many approach our team and were able to engage in conversations and made many new contacts. Feedback was exciting, explaining that we are right on target. The GFEL Concierge thanked us for our presentation, citing positive feedback from attendees.
When I arrived home, I was surprised to receive the GFEL Badge of Honor, Award Plaque, and Top 100 Visionaries in Education identification graphic. It was a great experience with a very distinguished group. I invite all of you to contact us for more on the forum, the presentation, and our products.
Thank you,
Richard DuBois
